Priyamani has blasted Director Cheran by saying that,” Director Cheran has cheaply stated that I do not deserve the National Award. He thinks that the actress who acts with him are only fit to receive this award”. Director and Actor Cheran is directing a film titled Pokkesham. He is also doing the lead role. Padmapriya is pairing with him. Before Padmapriya was signed Cheran was interested that Priyamani should pair with him. And he contacted her in cell phone. But it seems she did not respond.
Cheran in a recent interview stated that, “Here are some species in Tamil Cinema. These actresses always have a grudge and say Tamil cinema is a place for male chauvinism and much prominence is given to male actors and we don’t have a place here. But at the same time if they are narrated a strong theme like Pokkesham, the same people runs miles and miles. Recently I tried to contact the National Award winner Priyamani to narrate this story. She did not bother to reply me even after two days of continuous calls. Priyamani’s arrogance has taken priority over her talents. She does not care about cinema.”
When contacted Priyamani with regard to this, she replied fiercely that,” People are under the impression that anybody can say about Priyamani and there is no one to ask for. Director Cheran did not contact me on my cell phone. Only somebody from his office contacted me. I told him I have already signed three films and it is difficult to give dates. Any how I told him to give me two more days to consider. But after two days the same person contacted me and I told him it is not possible for me give dates due to my prior commitments. Because of this Cheran cannot say that Priyamani does not deserve the National Award. Maybe from his angle I may not be the fit person to receive this award. He feels that the actresses who pair with are fit to receive this award. It is always a practice because of envy, one is bound to make such comments. We should not give much prominence to such matters. Presently I am acting in a Telugu film titled Dhrona. Thirakadha, a Malayalam film is nearing completion. I have also agreed to do a movie directed by Manirathnam.”
S Ramakrishnan renowned Tamil novelist, whose books like ‘Nedunkuruvi’, ‘Thunai Ezhithu’ and ‘Kada Vilasam’ are household names has taken to writing dialogues for films as well. Ramakrishnan is not new to Tamil cinema. He has several movies with major directors and film makers to his credit. He has also written the dialogues for Vasanthabalan’s debut film Album, Rajni’s Baba, and Linguasamy’s Sandaikozhi and Bheema. He is currently working on director Saran’s Vinay and Kajal Aggarwal starrer, Modhi Vilaiyadu.
His next release is the Jeyam Ravi starrer Dhaam Dhoom, a brainchild of director Jeeva, who passed away during the making of the film in Russia. Ramakrishan had worked for Jeeva’s Unnale Unnale also. Jeeva and he were on the same wavelength. He gave him immense freedom to write. The best part was that he was clued into literature. This made it a pleasure for both to work better together.
An incident which took place in Thanjavur is being produced as a film with the title Karuvarai. A child which is conceived in a mother’ womb comes into the world and enjoys all the earthly pleasures and affection and finally settles in the sanctum of a temple is the theme of this film. Guru a new face is debuting as the hero in this film. Kerala beauty Vidhya is debuting as the heroine. Madhuchanda will be another heroine in this film. Rajesh, Balasingh, Nizalgal Ravi, Delhi Ganesh, Sulokshna, Roopashree and Paravai Muniamma are also in the cast.
A serpent is also doing a pivotal role in this movie. R.V.R who was an assistant to the veteran director Mahendran will be directing this film apart from writing the story, screenplay and dialogues. The shooting took place for 42 days in Mannargudi. Selva Ganesh has handled the camera while the music was composed by Dhashi. Kalidhas is producing this film under the banner Parameshwari Combines.
Actor Ravi Krishna son of producer A M Ratnam made his debut as an actor with the film 7G Rainbow Colony directed by Selvaraghavan. This very first flick fetched him good credits and results weren’t the same with the following films as all turned out to be flops. Well, his venture in Telugu was quite favorable for him and now he is geared up with the Telugu remake of Gamyam in Tamil titled ‘Kadhalna Summava’. The film is produced by Raj Television Network and directed by Ilangannan with Kamalini Mukherji in female lead role.
Ravi Krishna hoping this film as a turning point in his career is working day and night to bring the best out of him. After several sessions in gym he has lost weight of 10Kgs and also has decided to perform stunt scenes without using any dupes. Followed by the grand sales of Kuselan, Kavithalaya Productions started flying with high colors of success churning out 3 films at a time. Remake of Ninaithalae Inikkum in Hindi, Jeevan starrer Krishnaleelai and Thiruvannamalai starring Arjun in lead role directed by Perarasu.
Right from the movie launch of Krishnaleelai, there was a slight misunderstanding between Director Selwin and Jeevan. While shooting for the film in one of the peak areas of Chennai, Jeevan insisted Selwin to make some changes in the script that annoyed him.
Immediately, the small tiff turned out to be a great clash among Jeevan and Selwin as they started raising their hands. Shooting was halted and Jeevan moved away from the spot and never turned up for other schedules.
