Will the biggies exceed our expectations?

Alas! Unlike previous, none of the films proved to live up to our expectations. The movies that were expected to make it bigger, flunked at the box office. Why? This was the only question that perplexed our minds for most of us. In our previous exclusives, we had glimpsed through the hits and misses on this year and analyzed the attributes that made few as hits and others as flops.

One solid reason that wouldn’t deny by any of the filmmakers is that lots of promos were made and the films weren’t as powerful as them. Be it Kuselan, Satyam or any movies, the producers shelled out whole lot of money just for promos on posters and commercials.

Let’s take Satyam as case study. Vishal made lots of hypes about the film that of Nayanthara appearing in sultry looks, Vishal’s six-packs. But it’s so evident that Vishal got shot of this idea after getting watch Shah Rukh Khan’s style of promo-pictures of his six-packs of Om Shanthi Om. But, King Khan hadn’t stressed himself in spending whole lot of time for these pictures for the film was really entertaining, fetching big profit in box-office. In contrast were the results for Satyam….

Fine! Let’s not drag ourselves with the past… Come take a sneak look on the forthcoming expected biggies… Robot starring Superstar Rajnikanth and Aishwarya Rai in lead roles directed by Shankar commenced its shooting on August 15. Probably, the film may get released after couple of years. It’s same with Kamal Haasan’s Marmayogi. Kamal Haasan who is well-known for making detailed work in all his presentations would surely take lots of time working on this film of Rs.150 budget.

Naan Kadavul directed by Bala starring Arya and Pooja in lead roles had its shooting over for a long time, say around 3 years. The film is expected to hit the screens by Diwali and as you all know, we too are brimming up with lots curiosities to watch it.

Ajit starrer Aegan and Vijay starring Villu is not an exception. Both the films are produced at big budgets. Ajith’s Aegan will release all over the World on Diwali while Villu is slated for Pongal release. Vikram’s Kandasamy is produced at big budget and Kalaipuli S Dhanu is happier since distributors across far-flung corners of the World are getting rights of the film like hot cakes in bakery shops.

Bharathiraja’s Bommalaattam is remaining under the cans over and over for a very long period. The film was supposed to release this Friday, but again the hurdles have come on its way as the most matter-of-course flicks like Saroja, Dhaam Dhoom and Jayam Kondan are ready for their release in the alternative weeks…

Let’s wait and see whether at least these films would exceed our expectations….
