Star-casts: Srikanth, Parvathi Menon and others
Banner: Moser Baer, Nesagee Cinemas
Screenplay, Dialogues and Direction: Sasi
Music: S.S. Kumaran
Cinematography: P.G. Muthiah
Looks like Director is vividly influenced by Avant-garde filmmakers like Krzysztof Keislowski deeply from his trilogy Red, White and Blue. Yup! He has centered deeply on the intrinsic feelings of a woman and it has been depicted with finesse. Director Sasi rigidly believes in the concept of ‘Content is King’ and has no ideas about roping in superstars for his flicks. Be it his debut directorial Sollamale or his Dishyum, they were simply good though presented in commercial mode.
Poo is about a village girl and her deep affection for his childhood friend as well cousin. Her love and sacrifices and many people related to her. It’s a great attempt by Sasi with a heroine oriented film that has no prominence for a male lead. But, we’ve a small doubt whether Moser Baer is interested in producing films for making profits at box office or winning awards globally. Be it’s first venture Vellithirai followed by Raman Thediya Seedhai or this one, they have been winning critical acclaims but not favorable in box offices.
The film opens with Mari (Parvathi), a village girl waking up generally in the morning and she starts glimpsing about her back old memories of her childhood days and later times. Her unconditional love for her cousin Thangarasu (Srikanth) is trenchantly revealed. Even Thangarasu has a great likeliness for her. Thangarasu is a highly ambitious personality getting ahead to achieve something big in life. Graduated in Mechanical Engineering, he still has great likeableness for his girl. But everything gets deteriorated leading to perplexed scenarios. Will their broken hearts get reunited again forms crux of the story with a spellbinding climax
As mentioned earlier, it’s Parvathi who rules the entire show with her spellbinding performance. We’re sure this time; it’s not gonna be Trisha or Nayanthara winning awards for this year since Parvathi is the missy. Be it sorrow or happiest ambience, she emotes with a perfect style and each of her gestures reveal of her great ground works. However, Srikanth appearing with his minimal role doesn’t suit for the village based character. He is peppy with city guy kind of role and Sasi should’ve opted for someone else. The old man characterized as Penakaran, Srikanth’s father and his excellent performance on getting drenched across waterside is realistic. Another performed to be praised is the one who plays the close friend of Parvathi. The characterizations are perfect and Sasi has done it with prudence.
Musical score by S.S. Kumaran is good with few numbers especially ‘Choo Choo Maari’ and background score enhances emotional vistas. Cinematography by P.G. Muthiah is another noteworthy and adds more color to the film.
Hats off to Tamizhselvan for penning good short story and a commendable adaption of crafting screenplay adds one more feather to his cap.
On the whole, the film would be somewhat liked by a very few audiences and probably it has no chances of sustaining in box offices for a long time. Better the team members can expect great awards on various categories…
Bottom – Line: Only for film analysts
Verdict: Love watching it…
Prithviraj is one guy who easily mesmerizes all the actresses not even sparing the least ones in their look. And his recent pick is Prithviraj who has been transfixed by his gestures. Prithviraj and Priyamani are pairing up together for Mani Rathnam’s bilingual project ‘Ashokavanam’ -’Raavana’. Although Priyamani’s portions of shooting schedules commences only in the month of January, she had a good relations with Prithviraj as they have acted performed together in many films.
Apart from professional issues, both of them spend lots of times chatting their personal matters. Well, Prithviraj has the behavior of gifting every girl with costliest products and attracting them.
So, what was Priyamani’s return for Prithviraj? Any guesses….
Perhaps, everyone could be more fascinated with punch dialogues uttered by heroes on the screen. But now, it’s turning all the way to Trisha and her favorite dialogue too. Yeah! One word that she would be uttering at least once in a day is ‘Where’s the Party tonight?’ At the moment, Trisha is dying for night parties and recently it was at the residence of Vishal’s residence. Soon as Trisha and Vishal signed for Selvaraghavan’s project, they’ve turned to be close friends.
Over a night, all the three Vishal, Nayanthara and Trisha were chilling out at his residence. As usual, Trisha was boozed up and started scolding Nayanthara in assaulting words. The entire night Trisha was drowsier boozed in Vishal’s house and next day morning Trisha’s mom picked up. Even Ramya Krishnan and her sister Vinaya Krishnan were present there for the occasion and since Trisha’s close friend Shriya was missing as she was filming for ‘Jaggubhai’ in abroad.
Genelia wasn’t a successful actress in spite of making her debut under Shankar’s direction ‘Boys’ followed by pairing up with Vijay for ‘Sachin’. Later, she hop-skipped into Bollywood with ‘Masti’ that didn’t even get her noticed to the audiences and that was completely disappointing… Then it all was a twisting tale in her career with ‘Bommarillu’. This year, the film being remade in Tamil titled ‘Santhosh Subramaniam’ was a super hit while her Hindi flick ‘Jaane Ya Tu Jaane Na’ was a tremendous one. Apart from this, her Telugu movie ‘Ready’ and Kannada flick titled ‘Satya’ were blockbusters.
Delivering 4 consecutive hits in a year, Genelia is so excited about her success and of course, she is boasting about it. Hope she would make more bigger hits in the coming year and one among her expected flick is Bommarillu remake in Hindi titled ‘It’s my life’ starring Harman Baweja.
It’s really exciting for the ardent fans of Shriya Charan who shot to fame pairing up with Superstar Rajnikanth for Shankar’s ‘Sivaji’. However, she happens to be the only heroine who despites pairing up with Rajnikanth didn’t raise to success. Not just in Kollywood, her market is so down in Bollywood as both of her flicks ‘Awaarapan’ and ‘Mission Istanbul’ were great flops in box office. Well, the missy had great hopes only in her Hollywood film ‘The Other End of Line’ produced by Ashok Amritraj. But, it was merely a great disaster as the flick flunked pathetically all over the world.
At present, she has completed shooting for her film ‘Kandasamy’ with Vikram and on the process of filming ‘Jaggubhai’ with Sarath Kumar. Now her biggest of all offers is that versatile filmmaker Deepa Mehta offering Shriya to play female lead in her forthcoming flick ‘Komagata Maru’ starring Akshay Kumar in lead role. It is said to be a period film based on real life incident that happened on a ship heading to Vacouver and it is set at the backdrops of 1914.
Speaking on this Shriya Charan says that it’s a double delight working with Superstar Akshay Kumar as well ace filmmaker Deepa Mehta.
Star-casts: Sakthi, Sandhya, Keerthi Chawla, Saranya Mohan, Santhanam, ‘Kalyana Maalai’ Mohan, Vinodhini, Mohana Priya and many others.
Banner: Cool Productions
Production: Chida.Shenbaga Kumar
Direction: P.V. Ravi
Music: Vidhyasagar
Cinematography: K. Gunasekaran
‘Pidichirukku’ was indeed a good start by Cool Productions for it was a flick that didn’t carry any superstars or biggies on technical crew. If you are gonna enter the theatres with same expectations, you are sure to get back out with only disappointments. Producer as well Director of the film had their promos listing it’s a great family entertainer. Yeah! You’ve lots and lots of family members on the screen. But where are real emotions depicted? Again, they had their words of depicting the film as a pure romance. If so, where is romance? Not even a single shot binds our hearts emotionally. We get to watch the family members are not really bonded and naturalism is completely missing.
Oh! There are lots of noticeable flaws that aren’t acceptable by front benchers neither elite group. Let’s glimpse through the synopsis and get back analyzing the film more precisely.
It’s all a happy joint family dwelling in Kumbakonam and their well-featherbedded daughter Keerthi (Saranya Mohan) gets her alliance fixed. Well, she is keener that it’s her brother Mahesh (Sakthi) who has to decide whether bridegroom is suitable for her or not. Getting back from Chennai, he is so happy with the guy marrying his sister. Preparations for marriage commences and amidst of it Sakthi reveals of his love story that brings in Saranya (Sandhya) onto the screen. The entire family members are so happy about the girl and indeed eager to receive her. But things aren’t as cool and happy as expected for fate takes its turn…
Sakthi has no improvements on his quotients and is he trying to grab the post of ‘Yedhartha Nayagan’ is something questionable. His looks are excellent and likewise he has to opt for good scripts and characterizations. Sandhya can better quit acting for she is really pathetic and we can’t spare for her one-hit film ‘Kadhal’. She is unable to deliver one such praiseworthy task on her role while rest of the casts deserves same credits. It’s just a mediocre and unconvincing performance all of them except Santhanam and Srinath.
Musical score by Vidhyasagar is unbearable and soon he would step down lagging behind Sri Kanth Deva. Only couple of songs rendered by SPB is cool, but then picturesqueness spoils the entire work.
There isn’t anything to praise about debutant Ravi and looks like he should have been vividly influenced by Bollywood’s Rajashree Banners who churned out ‘Hum Aapke Hain Kaun’, ‘Vivaah’ and family stories that were blockbusters there.
Bottom – Line: Disappointing flick
Verdict: Not worthy even for Time Pass…
