Obviously, making such kind of films would be the worst curse inherited in Tamil film industry. Well, an amendment should be made in our film industry that directors should get approval from board of sampled film critics before making their film or at least the producers must follow it… Watching ‘Thennavattu’ is hells breakings lose out of the roofs and it’s the worst film ever made than ‘Kuruvi’. Why directors are still drenched with simple-witted thoughts of hero bullying the baddies and running around bush with his ladylove. Moreover, it’s the exact polished work of Director Perarasu’s ‘Tiruppachi’.
At this era of cyber space and changing phase of Indian Cinema, one can’t keep bluffing up with a silly theme that’s no more a centre of attraction for any centres of audiences. It’s a billion dollar question why Jeeva being such a great experimental actors wanted to accept this offer. Actually, he might have had plans about shifting his paradigms from offbeat to commercial movies. But, there are many lovable scripts that would welcome him and it’s a great blunder on Jeeva’s part.
Perhaps, it’s the second consecutive flop show of Sun Pictures as it has landed up churning out an annoying flick as ‘Kadhalil Vizhundhen’.
The film opens with a Kooavagam Festival where the entire scenario seems to be bit distressed and quite evoking your senses. It would ideate us that director has got something nice to deliver and it’s a great disappointment once the flashback begins. Kottai (Jeeva) seeking is the manufacturer of Aruvals (sickles) in a village town and his only happiness if his lovable mother (Saranya Ponvannan)… Seeking fortune, both Kottai and his dim-witted friend Vellaiyan (Ganja Karuppu) make their way to Chennai. Without any guesses about his identity, they land up at the premises of Kailasam (Ravi Khale) is a hooligan killing out people as in video games. Unknowingly, Kottai manufactures the sickles getting it for Kailasam the purpose he uses for.
Simultaneously, it’s love at first sight for Kottai as he falls for a beauteous innocent missy Gayathri (Poonam Bajwa), a violin teacher. On the pars, Kailasam’s son Santhosh a rapist by profession falls for Gayathri and tries seducing her. Eventually, a big fight breaks out between Santhosh and Kailasam, where he dies accidentally…. Now, it’s the turn of Kailasam setting out to seek revenge on Kottai and what’s the end? You know it….
Worst underrated film that lets you yawn, left and right and centre all throughout the show. If you plan to watch the film just for air conditioned services, you can’t afford for a comfortable sleep as hero and villain yelling with punch dialogues and Sri Kanth Deva tortures you with high-decibels of noisy sound that’ll let your eardrums spoiled…
Even a drunkard or five-sensed creature would love watching this film as it’s a flimsy script with annoying sluggish screenplay.
Jeeva has however tried making his best efforts of establishing himself as a best actor on commercial vistas too and doesn’t accomplish it. Poonam Bajwa’s luck was all about making her debut with Sevval. Though, the film wasn’t a great one, she had enough scope to perform and this one completely goes in contrast.
Please don’t ask us about rest of the star-casts. Other than Saranya, everyone are best to be ennobled as ‘Torturers’…
None of the songs really sound good and for better we have an advice for directors roping in Sri Kanth Deva… If you are gearing up for a low or medium budget flick, kindly opt for some other fresh musicians who are really talented. In case of getting Sri Kanth Deva, you can better avoid songs itself in the film.
Vetri’s cinematography is the only convincing factor in the film and he has great time in Kollywood.
On the whole, Thennavattu is a film that shouldn’t have been made at all… Don’t know when producers will actually get enlightened of offering good opportunities for filmmakers who have best scripts in hand…
Our kind advice for the audiences is better not to watch this film…
Bottom – Line: Curse to Tamil Film Industry
Verdict: Worst than the worst of all…
Director S.T. Saba made his debut directorial with ‘Naam’ produced by Prakash Raj under the banner of Duet Movies. Later due to unavoidable reasons, the director had to remain silent and now he is back with a big bang of wielding megaphones continually for three films at same time. Yup! the Director Saba speaking on this says, ‘For a very long time I had kept vividly speaking on the scripts for all film simultaneously. So, when you have the script and screenplay ready in your hands, I am sure shooting is no more a greater constraint for anyone.
Shooting for the film A…Aa…E..Ee is completed and film will hit the screens in December. Simultaneously, shooting for ‘Maa’, a family story and a romantic tale ‘Padhinaaru’ starring Shiva and Madhushalini in lead roles are gearing up. Soon after completing these projects, Saba will start shooting for a film to be produced by Yuvan Shankar Raja from the month of February.
Looks like a name of slum-sided gangster, right? Perhaps, It’s a film about an youngster from slum backdrops who falls in love with a high-profiled rich girl. So clichéd is the story and Director Manohor precisely accepts it. Does the story stride away differently in anyway? Again, we have this filmmaker uttering the ways carried on by young lad in impressing his ladylove and winning her heart would be something off innovative.
Post the success in grandeur of Jeevan starrer ‘Thiruttu Payale’ and ‘Jeyam’ Ravi starrer Santhosh Subramaniam; Kalapathy Agoram hops on for impaling speculation with new team that doesn’t include A-rated Star-casts. With Nakul and Sunaina on lead roles, Santhanam adds to the humor portions while Srinath, Delhi Ganesh, Meera Krishnan and others are said to taking on for great roles.
D. Imaan hasn’t been churning out any great successful tunes in the recent days. Let’s see if the guy strikes with different chords for the lyrics of Yuga Bharathy, Kabilan, Eknath and Na. Muthukumar. ‘Supreme’ Sundar choreographs for action-packed stunts while Murugan is the set decorator here.
Film had started rolling recently at Chennai and first shooting schedule is almost completed with the next schedules slated in Pondicherry.
‘It’s all about the India at the backdrops of pre-independence era’ says one of the unit members of the film ‘Oliyum Oliyum’. It is so exciting to see that both producers and director of the film haven’t even once. But the spellbinding script narrated by Director Sakthi Selvam, America based NRI producers Raju Venkataraman and Sivakumar Bala agreed to produce the film.
What have producers got to say about the movie? They say, “Everyone would gladly enunciate the films they churn are like their sweet child. But for us, it moreover a temple and don’t imagine this term of place to be inclusive of grand sculptures and valuable jewels. It’s a temple that remains within one’s inner self where God is present”.
Raju Venkataraman and Sivakumar Bala are producing the film under the banner of Thandini Creations. For whom those feel the name sounds peculiar, the producer clear saying that means ‘Saint Akilandeshwari’.
Director Sakthi Selvam may not be easily grasped everyone, but he has been an achiever all throughout at different stages of his life. At his early day of age 6, he won grand round of applause from former chief minister MGR for his stunning speech at a ceremony. He graduated B.A. and M.A., both with Gold Medals from St. Joseph’s College of Trichy. Apart from this, with an insatiable passion for filmmaking, he joined at the course of Direction at Film Institute at Chennai, but uncompleted. Also he fetched best credits for featuring honorable IPS Kiran Bedi in his short film titled ‘The Real Salute’ for which Maestro Ilayaraja tuned melodies.
As mentioned earlier, producers precisely state that they haven’t done anything special with the film other establishing it at the backdrops of Pre-independence Era. The most versatile actor Balam Kalyana Sundaram dons the role of a police constable named Govindasamy. He is a well known veteran for his heartiness of generosity where he completely donated his every month’s salary to orphanage and charity homes. More fascinated by his good act, former president Abdul Kalam had addressed him as the Best Indian… Added to this, Actor Rajnikanth had obliged him at his house accepting him as his father. The entire film unit is so elated to have this personality in their team.
Debutant Poongodhai, a deaf and dumb by her birth dons the role of a girl with excellent speech. Quite perplexing isn’t? Maybe, get to watch the film for a pleasant surprise and she was selected amongst all the students of deaf and dumb college throughout Tamil Nadu.
Prabha plays the role of protagonist named Ramu and he has already been a part of film titled ‘Pirappu’. After a long interval, actor Anand Babu son of veteran ace Nagesh makes his comeback with a character role in this film and Pragathi pairs up with him. Suresh who earlier performed character roles in Muni and Pudupettai takes on the role of Pannaiyar Paramu…
Yanidesh scores music for the lyrics of Director Sakthi Selvam while Ravi cranks the camera with Arasu as editor. Shooting for the film had hit the floors and now filming is being held at Ramoji Film City…
