A R Rahman gets London Critics Award

London Critics Award was given to A R Rahman for best music composer for the film “Slumdog Millionaire”. The film is based on Indian diplomat Vikas Swarup’s novel “Q&A”. Set in Mumbai, the film revolves around a slum kid who wins a jackpot on a quiz show called “Kaun Banega Crorepati”. “Slumdog Millionaire” received critical acclaim post its limited release Nov 12. Also, it wowed audiences at the Toronto International Film Festival as well as the Telluride Film Festival. The US’ National Board of Review has named Slumdog Millionaire the best film of 2008, while the film bagged the ‘Best British Independent Film’ prize at the British Independent Film Awards.

Rahman also received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Original Score and two Critics Choice nominations – Best Score and Best Song for Jai Ho. This film has featured in Time magazine’s top 10 movies list of the year. Speaking about this award A R Rahman said,” “I have worked with different people. Most Westerners are generally reserved. But Boyle was different – like a friend, very helpful. It was like working for Mani Ratnam, Rakeysh (Omprakash Mehra). He was very excited about India. He loved India. He loved Mumbai. He loved everything,”

Audio for ‘Kulir 100′ launched today

Today has been a great day for all media channels are they are continually flashing the audio launch of movies. Vijay starrer Villu had its audio launched today morning in simplicity while it was a contrastive scenario for ‘Kulir 100′. Director Gowtham Menon launched the audio while ace editor Lenin received first copy. Debutant BOBO Sasi, son of ace music director Murali (Famously known as duo combo Sabesh-Murali) scores music. The complete album comprises of rap based hip-hops. Sasi has been a part of a famous hip-hop band ‘Thug Laws’ in Malaysia. ‘Hip Hop Hurray’ and ‘Manasellam’ of Kulir 100 are already great hits.

Kulir 100’s producer-director is Anitha Udheep, shot to fame her active part in international projects like Shrek and Taken, a sci-fi series produced by Steven Spielberg’s company DreamWorks. Kulir 100 has new faces in lead role with stunning cinematography by L.K. Vijay. The film is about young lads and missies enjoying their school days…
