Each and every flick he makes has something really bold and beautiful. The unique theme he brims up with offers a stunning surprise for his viewers. Well, it’s more illustrious with his previous ventures of ‘Sedhu’, ‘Nanda’ and ‘Pithamaghan’. These flicks were shot merely within short period while this fourth directorial ‘Naan Kadavul’ took a very long time around 3 years to get completed. His mantra of ‘Slow and steady makes the work perfect’ should have urged him to do.
Finally, shooting for the film has been completed and patch-up works in production works are pending now. Arya and Pooja who had been coming up with clichéd roles as peppy youngsters have something more different here.
Like in his previous films, Bala centres ‘Naan Kadavul’ on emotional quotients of lost love and affection. For spiritual and astrological meliorations, an arrogant father excogitates and sends his son out of the house. The abandoned son (Aarya) grows up in the midst of Saadhus and Sanyasis. Turning one amongst them with long hairs and gory looks he has forgotten everything about world. Meanwhile his father realizing that he had committed blunders goes in search of him now. Getting to see his son in such a state, he is so shocked and decides taking him back.
Rest of the story is about the estranged son getting back to Tamil Nadu and series of events that happens in Vaarnasi after he leaves the place.
The newcomers in the movie include Rajendran, a popular stunt artiste, director Singampuli, producer Azhagam Thamizhmani, an eunuch Keerthana and a physically challenged singer Kovai Krishnamurthy. Keerthana hails from Madurai.
For the first time, we don’t have Bala penning dialogues for his film while Tamil literary composer Jaya Mohan takes on that task.
Actress Pooja for the first time dubs in her own voice and Director Bala wanted her to do with attempts of fetching her National Awards. Lyricist Vaali who had penned lyrics in appraisals of Lord Vishnu in Kamal Haasan’s ‘Dasavatharam’ has composed lyrics in appraisal of Lord Shiva over here.
Super Subbarayan’s stunts would be a stunning highlight in this film and climax fight sequence was shot nearly for 26days. Acharya Ravi, Singam Puli and Rassaiya Kannan have worked along with Bala as associate directors.
Censor Board officials will watch the film on November 30 and plans are to release it on Pongal. Since movies with Digital Interlude (DI) are not considered for National awards, both the cinematographer and the director have not used DI in the film.
Producers would be releasing the film simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu. A total of 450 physically challenged children and elders form part of the movie. Bala was felicitated for his mammoth effort on World Handicapped Day celebrations recently… Over 48 physically challenged persons, who know nothing about cinema had been to Chennai to dub in their own voice. A team of doctors attended them in case of emergency during the shoot.
Musical Maestro was joined by acclaimed Bollywood composer Uttam Singh for re-recording. For the first time, a full-fledged song in Sanskrit feature in the movie

Expectations: Sky high
For the first time in more than a decade’s time, a film shooting has taken place in Vellore district. It is none other than the magnum opus Enthiran – The Robot featuring Rajinikant. On 25th, Christmas day, the entire unit of
Looks like its gonna be a mix ‘n’ mix of offbeat and commercial treats for film buffs on the occasion of Pongal. Bala’s ‘Naan Kadavul’ is still on the issues of getting released or delayed for the festive day while Mysskin’s ‘Nandhalala’ and Vijay’s ‘Villu’ have been confirmed for release. Meanwhile, Vijayakanth starrer ‘Engal Aasan’ produced by S V Thangaraj and directed by Kalaimani had its shooting completed recently.
Director Kalaimani says, “I am so thankful for Captain Vijayakanth for getting completed with his schedules without any delay amidst of busy days of political propagandas”. With Vijayakanth vividly leaping on for big political plans, he is so sure that ‘Engal Aasan’ will win him good reach over the masses.
Director Lingusamy’s ‘Paiyya’ has started rolling before couple of days and now he opens his heart about his statements on Nayan and Thamannah. Nayanthara was supposed to be a part of Lingusamy’s film starring opposite Paruthiveeran fame Karthi in lead role. However due to some issues, she backed off from the project.
Director Lingusamy says, “I have no regrets with Nayanthara and I have been a great admirer of her performance. Unlike others, she paired up with Rajnikanth in her debut flick itself while later she went on about with young actors. Actually, that doesn’t happen to everybody. To cut down the cost factors, we had requested Nayan about reducing her remuneration after explaining our problem. Nevertheless, she was so stubborn and took it differently. Later, we had to opt for Thamannah who suits for the role. She is so dedicated and didn’t accept the offer just like that. We had to narrate the entire script and characterization she plays and get her signed for this film.”
Director Mysskin has been one such film historian who easily copies the motifs from international flicks that isn’t under the public glare. Of course, there are times where we aren’t even able to pick those original films from where he got deeply inspired for his previous two films. Now with his Nandhalala slated to hit the screens for Pongal, it has been revealed that it’s a film loosely based on a Japanese Film titled ‘Kikujiro’ ( KikujirÅ no Natsu), a Japanese film starring, written, and directed by Japanese filmmaker Takeshi Kitano. Its score was composed by Joe Hisaishi
Kikujiro tells the story of a young boy searching for his mother during his summer vacation. The film is mostly divided into smaller chapters, listed as entries in the boy’s summer vacation diary. Kitano’s inspiration for the character (not the film) was his own father, Kikujiro Kitano, a gambler who struggled to feed his family and pay the rent.
Winning critical acclaims for his best direction for Kamal Haasan’s magnum opus ‘Dasavatharam’, K.S. Ravi Kumar is spotted with overwhelming elatedness. Well, he has completed shooting for his present project titled ‘Jakku Bhai’ starring Sarath Kumar and Shriya Charan in lead roles. Produced by Radaan Media Network, the film was supposed to have Surya playing a prominent role in these flicks. However, nothing has been confirmed till the moments.
But K.S. Ravi Kumar who earlier had plans about roping in Vikram and Nayanthara together for his next untitled film to be produced by Mohan Natarajan of Rajakaliamman Films has changed his plans. It would be Suriya who would be replacing Vikram with Nayanthara in female lead. Buzzes are that Ravi Kumar is likely looking out to rope in Rahman for scoring music…
