“I had no idea of the character. But the moment I was dressed, the clothes and the make-up made me feel the person he was. I began to know him, and by the time I walked onto the stage he was fully born” says Charlie Chaplin. But this also suits our great time Comedian Nagesh who passed away this morning. Nagesh is a self-taught man who believes that an actor can learn from watching life and its characters. He often sat in his car in busy roadsides and watched the people on the streets to grasp the mannerisms of people that he would later reproduce on screen.
Nagesh was the only comedian to have acted with both MGR and Sivaji. Later on he had a fall out with MGR and it led to his removal from many films. He is also a character artist who moved the masses to tears with his sensitive performance in films like ‘Neer Kumizhi’ and ‘Edhir Neechal’. It was producer Balaji who spotted him and gave him his first break in films. The most memorable performance of Nagesh out of the 1000 odd films he has acted in is his role in ‘Thiruvillayadal’ in which he speaks a soliloquy that is one of the most memorable scenes in the film. He played a poet falling on bad times in the film.
His remarkable performance includes Kathalika Neramillai and Thillana Mohannambal. He was 77.Nagesh was suffering from diabetes and a heart ailment. He is survived by three sons, including actor Anand Babu.

Amidst of more commercial cinemas catering merely for frontbenchers, only few set of films do get us laudable praises. Of course, films like Paruthiveeran, Kadhal, Subramniapuram and more were proved on those lines where they commercially as well won many international awards. Factors that made them successful were a good script in hand, gripping screenplay and touching lines. Here comes a debut director Sri Hari who has completed shooting for ‘Karthik Anita’. The film has newcomers on the lead with more actors on prominent characters.
Perhaps, it’s a debut film for almost everyone on the title cards. Shankar V Rajan is the producer with his banner name of Sing Magic Productions. Heeding to the fantastic script of Sri Hari, the producer has agreed to the film with big budget.
Both the lead actors in this film were accidentally picked and not by severe selection of auditioning. Not any of these two actors had any training from Film School Training. Rathan much before completing this film had many offers as his decent work was appreciated by everyone. Similarly, Manju from God’s Own Country too deserves special mention as the director appreciates her.
Getting on with the specialty about this film, Director Sri Hari says, ‘Since it’s a romance film, it doesn’t mean I would be adding the most obscene, vulgarity themes like other contemporary filmmakers. The film is sure to get the audiences adhered to the screen by reflecting themselves as the characters’.
Couple of cinematographers K.G. Shankar and A. Vel Murugan would be cranking the camera. Sai Suresh handles editing while G.K. is the art director. Na. Muthukumar, Yughabharathi, Thamarai and Srinivas have penned lyrics to the musical score of debutant Jack Anand. Prabhu Srinivas and Srinivasa have choreographed for the song.
Expectations: A touching romantic tale on rise
