Review – Kudiarasu

Banner: Thiruchendur Murugan. Productions & Samurai Pictures
Cast: Vignesh, Suresh, Suguna, Neeba, Nizhalgal Ravi, Srikanth, Anu Mohan, Sabeer Hussain, Pandu
Direction: Sabeer Hussain
Production: K Suresh Kannan, E S Sathya Narayana
Music: Karthik Raja

Nothing is wrong when you pen a script. Be it from novel or a Hollywood film that has nothing to do with the film’s result. But how an auteur presents the film is all does it matters. Investigative journalism isn’t a famous one that has been dealt by many in our film industry. Director Sabeer Hussain makes an attempt out of it that isn’t appealing on the whole.

Actor Vignesh has all his best efforts rendered that doesn’t work wonders for him. He dons the role of an investigative journalist who’s on the verge of revealing the true colors of a greedy politician.

Of course, ‘Cellular’ – Hollywood’s best film has inspired our filmmakers and ‘Kudiarasu’ treads on the same pattern. It’s all about a day in a journalist’s life that begins on the dawn and gets over by dusk. Apart from directing the film, Shabir Hussain himself makes a cameo alongside producers Sathya Narayana and Suresh Kannan..

Let’s get on with the synopsis of the film…

Kannan (Vignesh) hailing from a middle class family background is an aggressive youngster who’s an investigative journalist. On the first day of the year, he sets out to investigate the culprits behind the closure of a finance company where crores of investments made by people were deposited… He’s not far behind the persons responsible for it and finally he finds out it’s none other than State Minister Ambalavanan (Sedhu Vinayagam). How he unravels the baddie by end of day forms crux of the story?

Naturally, Shabir deserves special mention for a good script. But unfortunately he blends the romantic tale that in no way entertains the audiences. This is where most of our filmmakers trail back not striking the gold. Vignesh does a decent job with his best efforts. Actress Suguna hasn’t done anything special while Sedhu Vinayagam, Ace Performer Srikanth, Pandu and Anu Mohan have done justice to their roles. Karthik Raja is completely disappointing with his musical score. Looks like Director Shabir being a kickboxer has made him insert many stunts based on martial arts during the course of film.

On the whole, it’s a good attempt and decent effort by Shabir on an unique script. But why he struggles on penning a gripping screenplay with unwanted elements is a question that you’ll figure out on him as you are getting out of theatres post the show.

Bottom – Line: A gripping tale with flimsy narration

Verdict: Middling on the whole.

‘Adhavan’ from Today

With Surya’s ‘Ayan’ slated to hit the screens sooner, the actor starts shooting for his ‘Aadhavan’ from today. The film is produced by Udayanidhi Stalin under the banner of Red Giant Movies who earlier churned out ‘Kuruvi’. The film is based on a script laced with commercial entertainer penned by Ramesh Khanna. Recently Filmmaker K.S. Ravikumar and Harris Jayaraj had fleeted to Switzerland for tuning in 3 melodious numbers.

Today the film will start rolling here in town with Surya and Nayanthara on the floors. Ramesh Khanna and Vadivelu would be adding to the humor quotients and earlier the trio combo of Suriya-Vadivelu-Ramesh Khanna had starred together for the evergreen comedy entertainer ‘Friends’.
