With Slumdog Millionaire fetching the most dreamt Oscars Awards and creating history across the globe, the Tamil version of this film releases today in Chennai and other parts of Tamil Nadu.
With the English version still running successfully in Satyam, INOX and Mayajaal, the Tamil version titled ‘Naanum Koteeswaran’ would be releasing in Woodlands, Mayajaal, Ganapathy Ram, Motcham, Bharath, Raj, Rohini, Vijaya, SSR Pankajam, Ambattur Rakki Cinemas, Moolakadai Sri Shanmugha and many other centres…
Sundar C’s ‘Perumal’ was a great disaster at box office and now comes his next film ‘Thee’ hitting screens today. As the lawyers-policemen issue were earlier included in this film, the problem broke out with the recent such happening in Madras High Court. The lawyers had filed case regarding deletion of such sort of sequences.
Finally, special screening for the judges would be held today evening at Four Frames. If there are any such hurting shots for the judges, it would be cut-out.
Cinematographer-Director Balu Mahendra was present during the audio launch of ‘Indiravizha’ that was recently held here in Chennai. Speaking on the occasion, he said, ‘During the year 1992, I was supposed to finalize the winner of National Awards. It was at that point of time both Ilayaraja for ‘Devar Magan’ and A.R. Rahman for ‘Roja’ were on close competition.
As the members cast their votes, both settled down with 7 votes each. Perhaps, things were directed to me once I had to finalize the winner. Glimpsing through both the films, I felt that none could have scored such a fantastic music on the first film itself and I voted for Rahman’.
It’s the right time for the musical maestro to bag the most prestigious title of ‘Doctrine’. A.R. Rahman – The World speaks about him continuously for his stupendous achievement. Now Aligarh Muslim University of Uttar Pradesh has announced about conferring the title of ‘Doctrine’ for A.R.Rahman.
Apart from him, Rathan Tata for his ‘NANO’ project and M.S. Swaminathan – ‘Father of Green Revolution’ would be awarded with this title. The award ceremony would be held on April 25 at Uttar Pradesh and A..R. Rahman is so gleeful over this felicitation.
Musical hero of our Nation – A.R. Rahman returned Chennai yesterday night at 2.30 a.m. from Los Angeles. He was so surprised to see such a grand welcome across the airport and indeed he got mobbed. Much excited Rahman said, ‘I had never expected such a big welcome and it’s so gleeful than ever’. Travelling from the airport to his Kodambakkam house that was 7Kms, he was furthermore surprised to see there were more crowds than it was actually down there at airport.
A.R. Rahman would be interacting with his media channels about his Oscar experience by today and more on next week, Tamil Cine Musicians’ Union would have him felicitated by Ilayaraja, M.S. Viswanathan, and K. Balachandar, AVM Saravanan and more personalities from Tamil Film Industry.
