‘New genres and good themes’ have been the ducky formulas for all viewers who are expecting something different from the film makers. Followed by couple of Supernatural-Thrillers ‘Yaavarum Nalam’ and ‘Arundhathi’ making good collections across the box office, there’s a different genre setting on hotfooted race. Yeah! It’s Lingusamy’s production ‘Pattalam’ directed by debutant Rohan.
Let’s not keep it dragging listing out the cast and crewmembers of this film. ‘Pattalam’ is said to be brimming with our nostalgic memories of our school days. The film was supposed to be released in January and due to unavailability of theatres, it remained in cans. Now with Summer Vacations starting-up, Producer Lingusamy felt that it’s the right time. If you think this to be a favorable situation, then there comes the hurdle as ‘Ayan’ is releasing next week followed by IPL Cricket Matches kick-starting on April 10…
Gone are those days where audiences clapped and whistled for the mass heroes jumping from 25th floor of a multi-storeyed building and smashing down 25baddies at the same, dropping cigars to their mouths, igniting fire from the neighbors shoulders and uttering punch dialogues. Well, here’s a new taste that has been found amongst Kollywood audiences. They’re all now looking for new genres from out-of-box thinking.
Let’s glimpse through past three months of Kollywood’s bible. Vijay’s ‘Villu’ and Dhanush starrer ‘Padikadhavan’ were expected to be the top-charting flicks of the season, but they flunked terribly. However, made at low-budget ‘Kadhalna Summa Illa’ entertained audiences. Later, it was Bala’s ‘Naan Kadavul’ making high waves. But it all ended there..
All of sudden there happens to be more films based on horrors and supernatural thrillers. Madhavan’s ‘Yaavarum Nalam’ witnessed a grand success where there were repeat audiences indeed. Certainly, it’s for the time a supernatural thriller was spotted having repeated audiences. On the pars, last week’s release ‘Arundhathi’ was nowhere far from it. For the first time in the history, a Telugu dubbed version was released with more prints and took for a great show. The theatres were fully loaded with house packed shows and they were stunning applause at many portions.
In the forthcoming weeks, there were would couple of Malayalam’s dubbed flicks ‘Thanthiran’ and ‘Sivapuram’ based on horror genres. ‘Sivapuram’ – remake of a Malayalam film ‘Ananda Badram’ directed by Santhosh Sivan was a blockbuster.
So, let’s catch out this interesting films ready for release on the row.. .
Director Sasi Kumar’s ‘Subramaniapuram’ had no ends for gaining glorious awards throughout the arena of film industry. Indeed, fetching the best path breaking movie of the year award by Maathru Bhoomi Magazine, the film sets out to Tollywood. Well, it’s not a remake but just the dubbed version titled ‘Ananthapuram 1980’. As known to everyone, the film had Director Sasi Kumar himself, Jai, Swathi and Ganja Karuppu in lead roles.
Earlier, producers had planned to remake the film and precisely the rates were fixed for around Rs. 1Crore. But then, as they felt the locales and backdrops wouldn’t be apt for the Andhra audiences as the real taste would be lost. So, they had decided to just dub the film. With Swathi peaking the charts in Tollywood, the film has already raised more expectations amongst there.
Actress Sneha getting into the sets of sequel to Chandiramukhi in Kannada was indeed a great news not merely for the actress but for her diehard fans. Unfortunately, the actress is no more in this project. So, what did really happen? Getting through P. Vasu who has started shooting for his film across the hillside regions of Pazhani, he said, “Sneha was the best choice but we are disappointed to hear that her call sheet schedules didn’t go well as she has already geared up for more projects. Now we’ve Sandhya replacing her”.
Is the film an exact sequel or just one more take of suspense-thriller? ‘Of course, the film starts with the climax scene of its prequel. It would be more thrilling than the prequel and we have used more graphical visuals’.
