Will ‘Pattalam’ strike jackpot in Box Office?

‘New genres and good themes’ have been the ducky formulas for all viewers who are expecting something different from the film makers. Followed by couple of Supernatural-Thrillers ‘Yaavarum Nalam’ and ‘Arundhathi’ making good collections across the box office, there’s a different genre setting on hotfooted race. Yeah! It’s Lingusamy’s production ‘Pattalam’ directed by debutant Rohan.

Let’s not keep it dragging listing out the cast and crewmembers of this film. ‘Pattalam’ is said to be brimming with our nostalgic memories of our school days. The film was supposed to be released in January and due to unavailability of theatres, it remained in cans. Now with Summer Vacations starting-up, Producer Lingusamy felt that it’s the right time. Kollywood – It’s all bounded with horror genres

Gone are those days where audiences clapped and whistled for the mass heroes jumping from 25th floor of a multi-storeyed building and smashing down 25baddies at the same, dropping cigars to their mouths, igniting fire from the neighbors shoulders and uttering punch dialogues. Well, here’s a new taste that has been found amongst Kollywood audiences. They’re all now looking for new genres from out-of-box thinking.

Let’s glimpse through past three months of Kollywood’s bible. Vijay’s ‘Villu’ and Dhanush starrer ‘Padikadhavan’ were expected to be the top-charting flicks of the season, but they flunked terribly. However, made at low-budget ‘Kadhalna Summa Illa’ entertained audiences. Later, it was Bala’s ‘Naan Kadavul’ making high waves. But it all ended there..

All of sudden there happens to be more films based on horrors and supernatural thrillers. Madhavan’s ‘Yaavarum Nalam’ witnessed a grand success where there were repeat audiences indeed. Certainly, it’s for the time a supernatural thriller was spotted having repeated audiences. On the pars, last week’s release ‘Arundhathi’ was nowhere far from it. For the first time in the history, a Telugu dubbed version was released with more prints and took for a great show. The theatres were fully loaded with house packed shows and they were stunning applause at many portions.

In the forthcoming weeks, there were would couple of Malayalam’s dubbed flicks ‘Thanthiran’ and ‘Sivapuram’ based on horror genres. ‘Sivapuram’ – remake of a Malayalam film ‘Ananda Badram’ directed by Santhosh Sivan was a blockbuster.

So, let’s catch out this interesting films ready for release on the row.. .
