Director while speaking about this film said,” The story is about an 18 year old youth who falls in love with an elderly girl. Namitha dons the role of a beautiful tribal girl. That is why we have titled the film Azhagana Ponnuthaan (beautiful girl). I have not conveyed any message in this film. I have recorded a life’s experience. This is a beautiful love story.

All are asking whether I chose Namitha because of her glamour. That is not the reason. In fact this film has brought out her acting talent. Namitha will be totally different in this film. Apart from this a popular hero will appear in a guest role. The hero’s name is being kept suspense for time being. The shooting of the film is over. The audio of this film will be released next month. The film will be released after the audio launch. There is a question that why this film was delayed. It was delayed because there was a great deal of work in this. That is why it got delayed.”

Ileana who had acted in Kedi did not get much offers in Tamil, so she switched over to Telugu film and became a leading star in Tollywood. After this she was offered to pair with Vijay in Villu and Vetaikaran. But she declined due to non availability of dates. At this juncture, Simbhu is trying to rope her for his film. Nic Arts Chakravarthy is producing a film tiled Valiban. Simbhu is doing the lead role.

Anushka was initially approached to do the female lead role. But now talks are going on with Ileana for the female lead role. It seems she has agreed to pair with Simbhu. Simbhu has agreed to pay her a salary of Rs 1 Crore on par with Tollywood.

When it comes to tinsel town, things are quite clichéd as many films are said to be based on real life incidents. To be an unparalleled attempt, Director Sundarapandi says, ‘usually, the characterizations are caricatured based on the real life individuals involved in it… But over here in ‘Vaigai’, it’s more on contrastive grounds as I have presented the real life characters themselves on enacting to the related incidents on the screens with the backdrops of same locations ’… Naturally, it’s a prodigious attempt endeavored by this auteur.

To a greater excitement, the real life young lad and missy whom have inspired for this flick will appear in the climax portion.
